Executive TeamAndreas MassourasCEO & FounderAndreas has a proven track record in creating value from big data analysis. With more than ten years of experience in genomics, Andreas previously worked for leading investment banks Salomon Brothers, Credit Suisse, and Citigroup and developed advanced data analysis tools that were used in financial products. After more than a decade in finance, Andreas began a second career by becoming one of the pioneers in applying big data and computer science know-how to genetics. He received a PhD in Computational Genetics from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology, Lausanne (EPFL) and a MEng in Software Engineering from Imperial College London.Maarten KempenCCOIn February 2023 Maarten joined Saphetor as Chief Commercial Officer for leading the global sales and marketing strategies with more than 25 years of broad experience in clinical international markets. Most recently Maarten held the role of Director of Clinical Sales at Illumina where he joined in 2015. In this role, he introduced a dynamic clinical-oriented organization by providing strategic direction and leadership for driving sales of key clinical genomics solutions in the landscape of large genomics accounts, and Governmental organizations related to national healthcare programs across EMEA, Russia & CIS. Prior to Illumina Maarten held various international Commercial and Business development leadership roles at PerkinElmer Inc, EG&G Wallac, and Eurogenetics/Tosoh. Maarten holds a BSc in Biochemistry, and an MBA from TIAS, Tilburg University, and TU Eindhoven University of Technology, The Netherlands.Emmanuel de MartelCOOEmmanuel has more than 25 years of Finance & Operations experience, mostly with US multinationals. After graduating from ESCP (Ecole Supérieure de Commerce de Paris) in 1989, he worked for Indosuez French bank for 3 years then spent the next 13 years at HP, in a variety of roles (Treasury, Project Management, FP&A) and locations (France, US and Switzerland). He has spent the last 10 years in the medical device industry, holding progressive management roles in finance and operations for Edwards Lifesciences and then Intuitive Surgical. He joined Saphetor in 2020 as COO, looking after the finance and operations of the company, with the mission of helping the company grow and scale while maintaining full compliance in its local operations.Charles ChappleCSOCharles graduated with a BSc in Biology from the University of York, UK and obtained a PhD in Bioinformatics working at the Center for Genomic Regulation (CRG) in Barcelona, Spain. He joined Saphetor in 2015, after completing his post-doctoral training in the Université Aix-Marseille, France. He has worked on a wide range of subjects, from genome annotation and comparative evolution, through protein-protein interaction networks, to NGS sequence analysis and is the author of several peer-reviewed academic papers.Christos KopanosCTOChristos has been developing web applications since 2001. After receiving his MSc in e-commerce from the University of Economics and Business in Athens he developed into a full stack engineer. With more than a decade of experience in server environments, data modeling, backend, and frontend software development Christos joined Saphetor in 2014.
