capecitabine

oral dose escalating, twice daily.

DRUG

oxaliplatin

IV over 2 hours on days 1, 8, 15, 22, and 29.

PROCEDURE

conventional surgery

curative-intent surgery 6-8 weeks after the completion of chemoradiotherapy

PROCEDURE

neoadjuvant therapy

chemotherapy and radiation prior to surgery

RADIATION

radiation therapy

once daily 5 days a week for 5.5 weeks
